Maria Matamoros is Vice President of Risk Management for Orascom Construction USA, Inc. and its affiliate companies The Weitz Company, Contrack Watts, Inc., and Watts Constructors, LLC, a full service general contractor, design builder, and construction
manager with expertise in commercial, federal, and industrial construction projects. Orascom Construction USA has offices throughout the United States.
Ms. Matamoros has worked in the construction industry for 31 years. She has occupied her current position since 2009 and in her role has been involved in insurance, captive, surety, claims, project risk assessments, and risk management policies, procedures, and
training programs.
She moved into her role in Risk Management after 10 years of working in operations managing high end clubhouse construction projects. Prior to joining The Weitz Company, she spent 7 years in commercial construction administration roles in Ecuador,
South America. Before her involvement in the construction industry, Ms. Matamoros held various positions in the areas of accounting, operations and international commerce in the banking industry in Ecuador.
Ms. Matamoros is a graduate from the school of Business of the Catholic University of Santiago of Guayaquil in Ecuador and holds a Master’s Degree in Construction and Real Estate Business Administration issued by the same university in partnership with the
Technical University of Madrid Spain.
She holds an insurance producer license in the State of Iowa for Property, Casualty, and Surplus lines, Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) and Associate in Risk Management ERM (ARM E) professional designations from the Insurance Institute of
America, and a Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS) certification from International Risk Management Institute (IRMI).
Ms. Matamoros is past Chair of the AGC Surety Bonding and Risk Management Forum and is a member of The Hartford Construction Advisory Board.
