IRMI Construction Risk Conference To Feature an Engaging Cast of Keynote Speakers

Dallas, TX, July 20, 2016—International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), has assembled a distinguished group of keynote speakers for the 36th IRMI Construction Risk Conference (CRC), to be held November 6–9, 2016, in Orlando.

On Monday, November 7, the Opening General Session, "Get Results by Transitioning Safety to a Corporate Value," will be presented by Ronn Lehmann, independent consultant. Almost 17 deaths per week occur on construction sites. A commitment to safety can be the difference between profit and loss for a construction company and between life and death for a construction worker. Mr. Lehmann will discuss how contractors that make safety a commitment rather than a matter of compliance are seizing an opportunity to improve employee morale, reduce insurance costs, and improve the bottom line.

On Tuesday, November 8, catch the General Session for "Lessons Learned in Construction Risk Management." This session is a discussion with seasoned construction risk professionals: Deborah Heden, corporate risk manager, The Conco Companies; Edward Littleton, senior vice president—risk management, Balfour Beatty Construction; and Dick Walterhouse, chief risk officer, Pankow. Moderated by Bill McIntyre, chairman, American Contractors Insurance Group and IRMI, this panel of experts will share their experience in managing risk in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Attendees will benefit from insight into the biggest challenges the panelists have faced as risk managers, how they tackle obstacles, and what advice they would give to those in the early stages of their careers. The panelists’ stories of triumphs and tragedies in navigating a complex and sometimes dangerous industry are sure to provide inspiration for the expected audience of over 1,500.

On Wednesday, November 9, wrap up the Conference with the Closing General Session, "Construction Industry Trends and Challenges," presented by Hank Harris, chairman, FMI Corporation. Mr. Harris will provide an insightful look into the construction economic outlook and the trends that may impact the risks contractors face in their day-to-day operations. He will discuss some short- and long-term challenges and opportunities for the industry. Attendees will learn how developments in business strategies, technology, and project acquisition and completion could transform the risk profile of a construction company in the coming years.
