Kevin R. King Honored as Recipient of the  
2024 Bill McIntyre Leadership Award  

San Diego, CA, October 28, 2024—Kevin R. King, senior vice president and chief risk officer for Turner Construction Company, was announced as the recipient of the 2024 Bill McIntyre Leadership Award today at the International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), Construction Risk Conference (CRC).  

Sponsored by Travelers, this award recognizes visionary leaders who demonstrate a commitment to construction risk management through creativity, service, mentoring, and education. The award is named for IRMI Executive Chairman Bill McIntyre, who has inspired, trained, and educated thousands of risk professionals and is a passionate advocate of construction risk management and safety.  

Mr. King’s advancements in enterprise risk management (ERM) have helped to define the concept for two generations of construction risk professionals. He conceived and created Turner Construction Company’s risk management department and has worked methodically over the past 24 years to build a team of industry experts from various perspectives, disciplines, and backgrounds. He also helped to conceive and create Turner Surety and Insurance Brokerage to fill a need he identified for a more intimate type of broker relationship that allowed first-hand loss and risk experience to translate directly into insurance program placement strategies. Most recently, Mr. King evolved Turner Construction Company’s risk management into a one-of-a-kind national construction risk management and claims advocacy group, Stratus Risk Associates.  

Mr. King proactively monitors litigation and legislation trends impacting construction insurance policyholders and advocates for the benefit of the industry. His efforts have directly influenced controlling law in some of the most industry-critical jurisdictions. He is also a prolific lecturer and author focused on sharing information with peers and educating the industry.
