New IRMI Book Addresses Terrorism Insurance Issues
Dallas, TX, December 18, 2003—International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI), is pleased to announce the release of its newest book, Terrorism Insurance: What Risk and Insurance Professionals Must Know. This new book provides a concise but thorough explanation of the state of terrorism insurance in the United States today.
The insurance industry received a terrible wake-up call on September 11, 2001, that changed everything. Among the many consequences was the realization that terrorists could inflict a previously unfathomable scale of injury and damage, which caused insurers to rethink their approach to providing commercial lines insurance. The rapid evolution of the industry's approach to terrorism insurance is chronicled in Terrorism Insurance, from the initial attempts to develop new exclusions through the passage of the Terrorism Risk Insurance Act (TRIA) and up to the development of new forms to cover the Act.
Terrorism Insurance includes ten chapters that will benefit any business or risk professional responsible for selling, advising on, or underwriting commercial lines insurance. It covers the rights of commercial insurance buyers under TRIA, what is and is not covered when "TRIA coverage" is purchased, guidelines to help decide whether to purchase coverage for terrorism exposures, what is covered under special stand-alone terrorism policies, and some of the ways captive insurers may be used to write terrorism insurance.
Terrorism Insurance: What Risk and Insurance Professionals Must Know is being offered by IRMI at the introductory price of $28. For more information visit www.IRMI.com/products, call 800-827-4242 (or in Dallas, 972-960-7693), or contact us.
