Mr. Thompson writes on risk financing actuarial risk for IRMI.com.
Mr. Thompson is the principal of AmeRisk Consulting. He has worked in excess and surplus lines insurance, has served as chief actuary of a property and casualty commercial lines NAIC company, and has over 10 years of experience in property and casualty and healthcare consulting. He has experience in nearly all lines of business and has worked as an expert witness in insurance-related court cases.
He has designed and initiated various insurance operations and risk collectives, including: captives (large and small), risk retention groups, insurance pools, managing general agents/underwriters, self-insured programs, and reinsurance companies.
Mr. Thompson is a Fellow of the Casualty Actuarial Society, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (2009), a Fellow of the Conference of Consulting Actuaries (2015), and a Member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He is also a member of the Self-Insurance Institute of America (SIIA) and the Captive Insurance Companies Association (CICA).
