Mr. Shean is a shareholder at Akerman Senterfitt, LLP, in Washington, D.C. His practice focuses on commercial litigation and arbitration, with emphasis on construction-related matters, insurance, and creditors' rights. His construction clients include owners, general contractors, and subcontractors.
Mr. Shean frequently lectures to professional, trade, and legal associations on construction law topics. He is coauthor of Construction Insurance: Coverages & Disputes, published in 1994 by The Michie Company, as well as three articles for Federal Publications' Construction Briefings: "Risk Transference in Design/Build Contracting," April 1996; "Construction Creditors' Rights in Bankruptcy," November 1990; and "Design Professional's Liability During Construction," March 1987. He has also been an adjunct professor for the nationally recognized Georgetown University Law Center since 1988. His other lecturing and teaching experience includes appearances at the SMACNA National Convention and the AGC National Convention in 1998, The World Bank in 1997, and the Seventh Annual Construction Superconference in 1992. Mr. Shean holds a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Virginia, and a J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law.
