Peter F. Lovato, III, JD

Mr. Lovato is a partner in the Chicago office of Skarzynski Marick & Black LLP. He graduated with high honors in economics from Princeton University in 1973 and from the Yale Law School in 1976.

Mr. Lovato has more than 35 years of experience in the litigation of business and financial controversies, with a particular emphasis on the professional liability of corporate directors and officers, attorneys, accountants, and insurance agents. Prior to joining BSWB, he served as lead counsel in connection with claims asserted against some of the country's most well known law firms and accounting firms.

In recent years, a substantial portion of Mr. Lovato's practice has consisted of representing professional liability insurers in litigation and nonlitigation matters involving complex coverage issues arising in disputes regarding policies issued to attorneys, directors and officers, financial institutions, business corporations, and nonprofit organizations, while he has continued to work in the defense of professional malpractice claims and the litigation of various commercial and real estate disputes.

Mr. Lovato also has extensive experience with various forms of alternative dispute resolution, including binding arbitrations and both court-ordered and voluntary mediations. He has successfully negotiated the settlement of scores of complex financial, commercial, professional liability, and insurance coverage disputes.
