Richard J. Scislowski, JD, CPCU, CRIS, MLIS

Mr. Scislowski provides leadership and support for several operational groups, including Production, Product Management, Marketing, Customer Success, and Sales. He also works with the IRMI Executive Committee to establish overall Information Technology priorities. He is the former editor of Pollution Coverage Issues, a coauthor of Commercial Liability Insurance, and a contributing author for a number of other IRMI publications. He holds the Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Construction Risk and Insurance Specialist (CRIS), and Management Liability and Insurance Specialist (MLIS) certifications.
Mr. Scislowski has contributed articles on liability insurance, environmental issues, courts and coverage, and risk and insurance history to the Expert Commentary section of IRMI.com.
Prior to joining IRMI in March 2005, Mr. Scislowski was a coverage lawyer with Gallagher, Sharp, Fulton & Norman in Cleveland, a large insurance defense and coverage firm, where he specialized in litigating commercial and personal lines coverage disputes. Before that, he was with a litigation boutique firm where he regularly appeared in court to defend a wide variety of complex civil matters, including business torts, construction defects, workplace injuries, medical and legal malpractice, and insurance coverage. Mr. Scislowski began his career as a judicial clerk for the Ohio Court of Appeals for the 11th District, helping write over 250 opinions, including several construing insurance policy language.
Mr. Scislowski graduated magna cum laude from the University of Akron School of Law, serving as articles editor for the Akron Law Review.
